As many of you know, Neighbourhood Watch is now an Association across all of Dyfed-Powys.
This initiative aims to strengthen, support and safeguard the invaluable work of Neighbourhood Watch schemes across the region. 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗟𝗬, Neighbourhood Watch schemes within Dyfed-Powys operated independently, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝙉𝙊 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. To enhance community safety, ensure consistent standards, safeguarding of our members and members of the public, all existing schemes will now automatically become part of the new association - as agreed with OurWatch, under MOU & Constitution. While the association will provide overall structure and support, the day-to-day operations of each scheme will continue to be managed by dedicated volunteer coordinators and deputy coordinators. These individuals play a vital role in fostering community engagement and crime prevention. The new association will prioritise a more people-facing and in-person approach to engage with members across Dyfed-Powys. This includes plans for regular meetings, both in-person and via Zoom, as well as volunteer recognition events, conferences, and other initiatives. By bringing all Neighbourhood Watch schemes under one umbrella, Dyfed-Powys Neighbourhood Watch aims to: ✓ 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆: Ensure consistent standards and practices across all schemes. ✓ 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: Provide resources, training, and recognition for dedicated volunteers. ✓ 𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Encourage information sharing and collaboration between schemes, ensuring they adhere to guidelines & follow the same goals/initiatives. ✓ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Implement effective strategies to reduce crime and enhance community security. We 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 be adhering to GDPR, CIO guidelines, and our signed MOU as it is essential for us to protect data privacy, mitigate risks, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations. By doing so, they can foster trust with stakeholders and ensure the long-term sustainability of our operations. Dyfed-Powys Neighbourhood Watch is committed to ensuring that all Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators are involved and empowered to contribute to the success of the Association. By providing a clear structure and support, the watch hopes to encourage greater participation and engagement from the community. Whilst we know change is daunting for Coordinators & Schemes who have been doing this for a while, community safety, safety of our members and crime prevention comes first. Structure is needed within Dyfed-Powys and our Chair, Vice-Chair and Operational Team want to ensure all schemes are registered, protected by insurance & safe to run. Dyfed-Powys Neighbourhood Watch is seeking advice on securing larger amounts of funding to expand their efforts in crime prevention and community safety.
The organisation has been instrumental in reducing crime rates and fostering a sense of community within the Dyfed-Powys region. However, to further enhance their impact, they are looking to increase their funding to support initiatives such as:

This afternoon, the Chair & Vice-Chair of Dyfed-Powys Neighbourhood Watch had a meeting with the Local Authority on the Mount Estate to discuss waste management and fly-tipping.
It's important for all residents to follow the guidelines set out by the Welsh Government and the Local Authority regarding waste disposal. Please ensure you're disposing of your waste and recycling correctly. Unfortunately, we've noticed an increase in fly-tipping on the estate, which is not only unsightly but also illegal. We have also noticed abandoned vehicles which have been reported by Pembrokeshire County Council staff themselves when doing the assessment of the estate. To address this issue, CCTV cameras will be installed in specific areas to catch offenders and residents are urged to make a report to both the police and the Local Authority. We will be working closely with WISE, Housing Officers, Environmental Health, and other agencies to combat fly-tipping, issue warnings and/or liaise with those who are not complying to figure out why people are finding it an issue. Any fly-tipping incidents, Anti-Social Behaviour (or any crime) witnessed by Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators & Volunteers will be reported to the relevant agencies and departments. Please note that certain communal waste areas are designated for specific flat blocks. Please place your rubbish outside your curb or near your property for collection. If your waste is missed, please contact Pembrokeshire County Council. There's no excuse for not following the guidelines. All agencies will be taking a firm stance against these ongoing issues. Please store your waste in your garden area until it's time to dispose of 3 black bags every 3 weeks. The local authority managers also recognised that throwing or damaging of the green food waste bins when the waste team are disposing of the waste are not "standard practice" and have since apologised. They will be issuing a memo to collection staff that collect the waste on the estate. If any residents need any new bins, they have requested they contact the offices at Pembrokeshire County Council to request new ones. We understand the concerns raised by the council regarding communal areas and agree with their stance and their concerns. We also understand the concerns raised by residents and also empathise with their concerns, however, evidence suggested that all residents were pre-warned of the change in their waste disposal dates and were given calendars for their collection dates. Neighbourhood Watch will be requesting increased police presence in the area to monitor the situation and engage with residents who are not complying.
