Storm Darragh
The Met Office & Dyfed-Powys Police declared a major incident across the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and Powys on 07/12/2024 in response to significant disruption caused by Storm Darragh. Storm Darragh swept through Wales like there was no tomorrow with lasting effects of leaving vulnerable people without power, food, electric, internet and mobile signal.
Damage and Disruption:
Casualties: Tragically, two people lost their lives as a result of the storm. Other Impacts:
The Met Office issued a rare red warning for wind, indicating a significant risk to life and property. The storm's rapid intensification and the high wind speeds contributed to its severe impact. |
A Multi-Agency Response
Collaborating together to ensure the safety of the public, Dyfed-Powys Neighbourhood Watch alone;
- Reached a following of over 1000 people on our Facebook page.
- Our posts reached over 220,000 people across Dyfed-Powys, keeping them informed & up-to-date.
- Over 120+ people were supported.
- Collaborating with Village Halls, Churches and Chapels to ensure members of the public are warm, fed, charged up and safe.
- Supported members to register on the priority services register if they are classed as vulnerable, or disabled.
